Your profile
Name, photo, email addresses, password, connected accounts, devices, appearance and deleting.
On this page
In short
- Your profile is you as a person: name, photo, email addresses, how you sign in, your devices, how Vallit looks to you and the language it speaks to you.
- You change all of it under Settings, which opens from the account menu at the foot of the sidebar. A change applies wherever you use Vallit.
- Your apps, alerts and plan belong to the company, not to you. Your company covers those.
Where in the app
Settings has no entry in the sidebar. It opens from the account menu: click the row with your name at the foot of the sidebar. On a phone, tap the menu button at the top right first; the row sits at the foot of the panel that opens. With the sidebar folded, the round picture of you opens the same menu beside it.
The menu opens at once. At the top it shows your name and email address. Under it comes Settings, one entry for everything below, then Vallit status and Sign out. Vallit status opens status.vallit.net in a new tab: whether every part of Vallit is working right now.
Settings has one list of sections beside the page, in two groups kept apart: Profile, which is yours, and Company, which the whole team shares. On a phone the list is a row you can swipe sideways. The Profile group has three sections: Profile, Sign-in and devices and Appearance.
Step by step
Open your profile
Click the row with your name at the foot of the sidebar, then click Settings. The page opens on Profile, with your photo, your name and your email addresses.
Change your name
Change First name or Last name and click Save changes. A message confirms it, and the sidebar shows the new name.
Change your photo
Click Change photo and choose a PNG or JPG that is at least 256 pixels wide. Your company sees it beside your name.
Add an email address
Under Email addresses, click Add an email address, type the address and click Send a code. Enter the six digits from the email. The address joins the list.
Open Sign-in and devices
Click Sign-in and devices in the list beside the page. The page shows how you sign in, where you are signed in, and the button that deletes your account.
Set or change your password
Under Signing in, click Set a password or Change and type the new password. The bars under it fill as it gets stronger, and the button waits until it is long enough. Your other devices stay signed in.
Sign out of another device
Under Signed in on, find the device you no longer use and click Sign out. That device has to sign in again. Sign out everywhere else does it for every device but this one.
Choose your language
On the Profile page, under Language, choose English or Deutsch. The page changes at once. Your other devices and the emails Vallit sends you follow.
Choose how Vallit looks
Click Appearance in the list and choose Light, Dark or Match device. The choice applies at once.
Delete your account
On Sign-in and devices, click Delete account. In the window that opens, press and hold Hold to delete until it fills. Letting go early stops it. This cannot be undone.
Beside the addresses, Sign in with this makes an address the one you sign in with. The address you sign in with reads Signs you in. Remove takes an address off your account.
When Google or Apple sign-in is switched on, Signing in has a row for each. Connect links that account and Disconnect unlinks it. You then sign in with your email address.
To sign out of this browser, open the account menu and click Sign out. The sign-in page opens, headed Welcome back.
Deleting your account does not delete a company. Its apps stay watched, and alerts keep going to its alert address. To remove those too, delete the company first. While you are the only admin of a company, the section names that company with a link to its settings, and Delete account stays greyed out. Once the account is deleted, the sign-in page opens once and reads Your account is deleted., with Your sign-in, name and devices are gone. You can start again any time. under it
What happens behind the scenes
Your name, email addresses, password and devices are held by the sign-in service Vallit uses. Vallit's own database stores no passwords.
- A new address counts once you enter the code sent to it. An address you add and then cancel is not kept.
- Before a sensitive change, a window headed Confirm it is you may ask for your password or a code sent to your address. This covers a new address, a new password, a connected account and deleting your account.
- Changing your email address does not change where alerts go. The company sends alerts to the address an admin sets under Alerts in the company settings. Alerts explains it.
- Sign out in the menu ends the session in this browser only. Your other devices stay signed in until you sign them out under Signed in on.
- The language is kept on your account, so it follows you to every device and into the emails sent to you. Until you choose one, Vallit follows your browser's language, or the language you picked on the sign-in page; any language other than German reads English. Emails to your company follow the language most of its admins chose. Finding titles and short texts are translated too; code, file names and evidence stay as your app wrote them. These docs and their pictures show the English App.
- The appearance choice is kept in a cookie in that browser, so it does not follow you to another browser or device. Emails stay light. A new browser starts on Match device.
- The old addresses
/app/settingsand/app/settings/accountstill work. They open your profile. - app.vallit.net has no front page. Signed out, its address opens sign-up, where Sign in leads back to the sign-in page.
